Nani Iro Collins Top
During a trip to Japan in April 2016 I stumbled across Nomura Tailor in Kyoto. It really was like fabric heaven. I spent a couple of happy hours there and emerged with an enormous bag full of fabric including the Nani Iro linen I used for this project.
The pattern is the Collins Top created by Emily of In The Folds. This was my first time using an In The Folds pattern and it was a great experience. I love the design – it’s so interesting and architectural. The loose fit is also great for breastfeeding mummas like myself!
I appreciated how thoughtful and detailed the pattern instructions were. I particularly liked how the pattern includes the advice to slow down, plan carefully and understand the process in order to ‘create garments that will be worn, loved and cared for long into the future’.
As we are heading into summer here in Western Australia I created View B which is sleeveless. I also chose to bind the edges instead of doing the facing because on a 40 degree Perth day the fewer layers the better!
I was really happy with the fit of my Collins Top and I’m looking forward to making a couple more. I think this pattern will definitely be a summer wardrobe staple for me.
