Stripey double oven mitt
One of my sewing goals is to hand make 90% of the presents I give my friends and family. This is a hard one as it involves a lot of forward planning! However, back in November I managed to get my act together and make an old family friend, Megan, this double oven mitt in time for her 60th birthday.
Megan is a prolific biscuit maker and stripe lover so an oven mitt seemed like the right choice. Her signature recipe is her special 'S' biscuit inspired by her Greek heritage (hence the blue and white stripes). The heart (which I hand embroidered using chain stitch) is to remind her we love and appreciate her while she bakes.
Although I ad-libbed quite a bit, I found a video tutorial by Crafty Gemini very helpful while designing and making my mitt. I've included the video at the bottom of this post in case you want to check it out.
